The following links show the comments that have been submitted for the HAS20 site allocation in the Local Plan.
HAS20 comments on the Housing Technical Paper (EXAM113)
https://centralbedfordshire.oc2.uk/document/reps/2058
Note the comments from Harlington parish council:
"Remove HAS20, impact on sustainability of village, village incorrectly classified as Minor Service Centre, loss of Green Belt, housing figures are out of date, risk of coalescence between Harlington and Toddington."
Out of the 14 representations listed above, there is only a single "support" comment which is from "Pegasus Group" who are the consultancy who are packaging the site up on behalf of the landowner for a future developer to purchase.
Comments from members of the public on the Harlington section of the Local Plan:
https://centralbedfordshire.oc2.uk/document/reps/1370
Out of the 62 comments, 48 are lodged as "Object", 13 as "Comment" and only 1 lodged as "Support" which was lodged by Central Bedfordshire Council. Out of the 13 lodged as "Comment" all of them point out issues with HAS20. The CBC comment also only points out issues, there is no supporting argument presented.
Despite the CBC comment being lodged as "Support" the text of the comment reveals that it is acutally an objection:
"SETTLEMENTS - site cut off from settlement by railway line
DESIGN- access points to Harlington village constricted
INFRASTRUCTURE - location presents difficulty accessing schools"
"Full text:
I am concerned that site ALP117 may not integrate successfully into the community of Harlington parish. Their is only two access points across the railway line into the core of the village, one at Station Road and the other at Westoning Road, both access points are constricted, my concern would be that residents on the west of the railway line will feel more directly connected with Westoning than with Harlington proper. I am concerned that children who need to access the lower school and upper school with have difficulty accessing these schools. I am not opposed to growth per se."
Out of all of the above comments there is not a single supporting argument presented by anybody except Pegasus Group. The parish council object, the schools object and even CBC have presented several issues.
